The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the establishment of a working group focused on cryptocurrencies to develop market regulation proposals. This is one of the first actions taken by the agency following the resignation of cryptocurrency skeptic Gary Gensler. Current acting chair Mark Uyeda stated that the working group will aim to create a "comprehensive and clear" regulatory framework for crypto assets. The working group will be led by SEC Commissioner Hester Peirce, who is known in the industry as "Crypto Mom" for her opposition to the SEC's enforcement actions against crypto companies.
