Indonesia's cryptocurrency trading volume is expected to increase by 335% to $40 billion in 2024. According to the Jakarta Globe, Tirta Karma Senjaya, head of the Indonesian Commodity Futures Trading Regulatory Agency (Bappebti), announced that the cryptocurrency trading volume in Indonesia will grow by 335.9% year-on-year in 2024, reaching 650.61 trillion Indonesian rupiah (approximately $40 billion). As of November 2024, the country has 22.10 million registered crypto users, with popular trading currencies including USDT, BTC, DOGE, PEPE, and XRP. Bappebti anticipates that the number of users will increase to 25 million in the future and plans to transfer the regulation of crypto trading to the Financial Services Authority (OJK) this year, while continuing to oversee commodity futures trading.
