Nexus is building a high-performance blockchain designed for a global exchange ecosystem, where assets, markets, and information streams can be traded with extremely low latency. The network combines a programmable EVM-compatible environment with specialized exchange infrastructure, aiming to support spot and perpetual markets across crypto, equities, FX, and commodities. Its long-term vision is to create a unified financial execution layer powered by verifiable computation and zero-knowledge technology.
At the core of Nexus is a modular architecture composed of NexusBFT, NexusEVM, and NexusCore. NexusBFT provides fast Byzantine Fault Tolerant consensus based on CometBFT, while NexusEVM enables developers to deploy Ethereum-compatible smart contracts using familiar tooling and RPC standards. NexusCore acts as the dedicated exchange execution engine, handling functions such as order matching, risk management, liquidations, and market data processing with targeted 5ms block intervals for high-frequency trading performance.
Nexus also integrates a Compute Network powered by the Nexus zkVM, allowing the network to generate validity proofs for computation and exchange execution. This approach enables external parties to independently verify correctness without relying on centralized operators. The project aims to combine the scalability of modern exchange systems with the transparency and trust minimization of zero-knowledge proofs, positioning Nexus as infrastructure for next-generation onchain financial markets.
