🚨 UPDATE: Ethereum $ETH Layer-2 Kinto announces a shut down months after a $1.6M hack, looking for new debt and worsening market conditions that “killed further fundraising”.

Kinto Announces Closure and Starts Orderly Liquidation According to official news, Kinto decided to close the project due to the $K token on Arbitrum being stolen for 577 ETH due to a CPIMP proxy vulnerability in July, increased financing and debt pressure, and the team not receiving salaries since July. All remaining assets (approximately $800,000.00) will be used to repay Phoenix lenders, with an estimated 76% of the principal being recovered. The founder will personally donate $55,000.00, and each victim address can receive up to $1,100.00 and can participate in future recovery payments through the CVR protocol. Kinto wallet and asset withdrawals are open until September 30, and the ERA airdrop is expected to be distributed on October 15.

Kinto, an Arbitrum ecological modular trading platform, suffered a smart contract attack in July, losing 577 ETH, approximately $1.55 million, and announced that it would close on September 30. Its founder, Recuero, has promised to compensate some hacking victims after Kinto closes. According to Recuero, all remaining foundation assets will be returned to the loan providers of the "Phoenix" program, who will recover 76.00% of the loan principal. Recuero also pledged $55,000.00 of personal funds to compensate victims of the Morpho platform hack, up to $1,100.00 per address.
