Internet Computer is a layer-1 blockchain developed by the DFINITY Foundation that aims to extend the public internet by supporting concurrent smart contract computation. It uses a Chain Key cryptography system and a novel consensus mechanism to achieve finality in 1-2 seconds. ICP is the native token used for governance (through the Network Nervous System), computation (cycles), and rewarding node providers.
