@consensus_hk was a perfect opportunity to kick off 2025 and a busy conference for Presto, as we actively took part in multiple aspects.1. Our co-founder Yongjin Kim spoke at Consensus HK Open Money Summit presented by @circle.Yongjin noted the seismic shift since institutional flow entered via ETFs, with ~$40B USD in net inflows into BTC ETFs reshaping market dynamics. The early February meltdown underscored this: Bitcoin dipped 9-10%, while altcoins crashed 30%+, revealing a growing divide—BTC increasingly driven by institutions, and altcoins still fueled by retail and leveraged activity. It’s a clear sign of how far the market has matured.Yongjin also shed light on regional nuances, contrasting Asia and the US. He pointed to a stark difference in altcoin-to-major coin volume ratios between US and Asian trading hours, alongside the market’s laser focus on US macro data and policy signals. This US-centric weighting reflects its outsized influence on global crypto trends.2.
