🔵Ethereum Community Members Propose New Fee Structure for Application Layer DeThings reported on April 28th that Ethereum community members Kevin Owocki and Devansh Mehta proposed a dynamic fee structure for the Ethereum application layer on April 27th. The proposal aims to strike a balance between the revenue generation of application developers and the fairness of fee extraction. The scheme uses a square root function to calculate the fee ratio, charging a higher percentage when the pool size is small, with a fee cap of 1% when it exceeds $10.000.000. This is intended to support application developers and encourage project growth. The proposal by Owocki and Mehta to balance the income and profitability of Ethereum application developers reflects a growing call for reforms to the fee structure and value accumulation mechanisms to maintain Ethereum's economic viability relative to competing networks.

Ethereum community members Kevin Owocki and Devansh Mehta have proposed a new proposal suggesting a dynamic fee structure at the application layer: as the size of the project's liquidity pool increases, the fee ratio decreases according to a square root function. When the size of the liquidity pool exceeds $10,000,000.00, the fee cap is set at 1%. The proposal aims to protect the rights and interests of small developers while incentivizing the growth of applications and liquidity pool size. (Cointelegraph) https://t.co/WFKX3M9JEO

Wu Shuo has learned that Gitcoin founder Kevin Owocki has announced that he will officially shut down its core software development team, Grants Lab, on May 31, 2025, and will stop maintaining the Grants Stack product. The reason given is that Grants Lab currently lacks a sustainable path to profitability due to changes in the Web3 public goods funding environment and the loss of key team members. Gitcoin will focus on a more streamlined Grants program operation and provide severance support to affected employees. https://t.co/C4JyeW2ykM

Gitcoin is shutting down its software development division, Grants Lab, due to a lack of a sustainable profit model. Gitcoin co-founder Kevin Owocki announced that Gitcoin will close its main software development division, Grants Lab, and lay off some team members. This decision is due to changes in the ecosystem: public goods funding methods are evolving, the Layer 2 ecosystem is maturing, collaboration mechanisms are constantly innovating, and new competitors are emerging. At the same time, key members of Grants Lab have left one after another, and the team, in its current form, lacks a clear and sustainable profit model, resulting in financial expenditures exceeding what is affordable. Therefore, Grants Lab will no longer apply for the second half of 2025 budget, and the remaining funds will be used to provide severance compensation to affected employees. Gitcoin stated that they will do their best to support the transition of departing employees in a respectful and caring manner.
