Ethereum Native Aggregation Design: A Breakthrough in Trustless Scalability

Ethereum's local rollups promise trustless scalability. By leveraging L1 validators for proof and execution, local rollups eliminate the need for centralized sequencers and complex governance. Ethereum researcher Justin Drake published an article on the ethresearch forum about the new rollup design "local rollups." Unlike optimistic rollups or zk rollups, local rollups rely on Ethereum L1 validators for state transitions and validation. Drake's proposal suggests introducing an "execution" precompile that hardcodes the validation of user transactions' EVM state transitions into the EVM. This means that local rollups no longer require investment in and maintenance of expensive prover networks, nor do they need complex governance structures, thereby achieving trustlessness. Additionally, local rollups will enjoy synchronous composability, addressing cross-chain bridging issues.
